WWE Plans To Have The Undertaker Beat Brock Lesnar

Undertaker

WWE reportedly has plans for The Undertaker to gain a victory over Brock Lesnar, either on August 23, 2015 at SummerSlam in Brooklyn, New York, or on April 3, 2016 at WrestleMania 32 in Arlington, Texas.

As previously reported, Undertaker returned to WWE programming during the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match between Lesnar and current champion Seth Rollins at WWE Battleground in St. Louis, Missouri. During the final moments of the bout, The Deadman seemingly appeared out of nowhere, only to drop Lesnar with a low blow, a Chokeslam, and two Tombstone Pildrivers.

This set up The Phenom’s return to Monday Night Raw the following night in Kansas City, Missouri, where he vowed to take care of Lesnar due to his constant bragging about his conquest over Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania. This led to The Authority making Lesnar vs. Undertaker official for SummerSlam.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that ‘Taker is set to gain a victory back over Lesnar before he retires, be it at SummerSlam in four weeks, or at WrestleMania 32 in 2016. He writes:

“After a tremendous pull-apart brawl as the television angle, there is no clear-cut babyface and heel in the Undertaker vs. Lesnar program. Undertaker used a low blow, a heel move, to set up destroying Lesnar, but was largely cheered, including a “One more time” chant after he had already delivered two tombstone piledrivers.

At television, Paul Heyman was clearly a heel as Lesnar’s manager, but Lesnar didn’t back down, and was booked even and also with face reactions including the nature of how the television arrest was done. The finish is also a question.

Undertaker is scheduled to get his win back, but the question is whether it’ll be now, or if it’ll be saved for WrestleMania. But if Undertaker vs. Lesnar is the WrestleMania plan, having the match here first will greatly dilute its value since WWE has never been able to maintain the value of dream matches well after the first meeting, even though returns being bigger than the original were the hallmark of good wrestling companies historically.”
