At Survivor Series, WWE appeared to move past the controversial storyline they used last week on Raw to generate interest in the Divas Championship feud between Charlotte and Paige. Any mention of Reid Flair, Charlotte’s brother who died of an overdose, were scrubbed from the video package on her match against Paige. Charlotte retained the title in long match that couldn’t get the audience engaged as she forced Paige to tap out to the Figure Eight.
After the show, Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer mentioned on Live Audio Wrestling that WWE had planned for Sasha Banks to defeat Natalya on the Survivor Series Kickoff to be propel her for a feud with Charlotte. They would then clash in a Divas Championship Match at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs on December 13, 2015 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, which is where Banks is billed from. WWE, however, canceled the bout and replaced it with a 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match where Goldust, The Dudley Boyz, Neville and Titus O’Neil beat The Miz, Stardust, The Ascension and Bo Dallas.
Tonight’s Raw should indicate whether Banks is still in the running for the title or if her planned push has been canceled.
In this post-match interview at Survivor Series, Charlotte revealed the importance of her title defense against Paige.
