– WSB TV reporter Mark Winne from Atlanta has been tweeting updates on the potential Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) attack on Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view. As noted, hacktivist group Anonymous revealed that the terror group had several targets for Sunday, with the only target in the United States being the WWE pay-per-view. The FBI issued a statement saying they were taking the threat seriously but they did not have specific or credible information of an attack.
Winn, who told one reader he would “probably” still go if he was a fan with tickets, says the feeling locally is that authorities got ahead of the threat but are not ignoring it. There was no active plot by any ISIS cell for an attack and the potential target list may have been put out there to inspire “lone-wolf” attackers. Here are some of Winn’s tweets:
General impression: #atl #fbi & partners on top of #wwe situation early, careful to keep in context NOT exaggerate danger nor ignore @wsbtv
