In a decision approved by Vince McMahon, both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were kicked off the remainder of WWE’s European tour and sent home after Tuesday’s SmackDown LIVE taping in Manchester, England for conduct deemed detrimental to WWE.
Multiple sources both internally and externally confirmed to Sports Illustrated that Owens and Zayn’s offense was “going into business for themselves” regarding their on-camera work during SmackDown LIVE.
According to a report from PWInsider.com today, the two are expected to be back on television imminently. The site notes that they have confirmed with “multiple sources” that the two will be at SmackDown LIVE this Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Multiple sources tell Pro Wrestling Sheet that Zayn and Owens were supposed to “feed” for The New Day following the Zayn vs. Kofi Kingston match, but for some reason, they didn’t follow directions and left the ring.
Owens hit the ring as soon as the match ended and attacked Kofi as planned. However, he and Sami quickly bailed from the ring. New Day then stood to wait, same for the sound crew who didn’t play anyone’s music, and the segment ended awkwardly when the two wrestlers seemingly went off script by not taking their planned beating afterward.
Here is footage of the incident.
