33% Beauty + 34% Brains + 33% Brawn = 100% Stratusfaction guaranteed!
With one simple formula, Trish Stratus revolutionized what it means to be a woman in professional wrestling, carving an unmatched legacy as the quintessential female WWE Superstar. A former fitness model, the Canadian bombshell arrived to WWE during the height of the Attitude Era. Starting as the manager of a team called T&A, it would have been easy for Trish to be dismissed as just that. Instead, she clawed her way to a record seven Women’s Championships in a Hall of Fame career.
In 1999, Sable became the first WWE Superstar to pose nude for Playboy, but she was far from the last. In the ensuing years, Chyna, Torrie Wilson, Christy Hemme, Candice Michelle, Ashley Massaro, and Maria Kanellis joined Hugh Hefner’s list of cover girls. Why didn’t Trish ever pose for Playboy?
“Not interested at all. It’s just not my style, like, you know, sitting there nude and posing for magazines, it’s not my style [laughs],” Stratus said when asked if she would pose for Playboy during an interview in 2010.
“Um, I actually like, and I’ve always said this, I mean, you know, you could probably go quote me a 100 times, but, I want at the end of the day, I want people to be like, ‘Oh, that’s Trish Stratus the best women’s wrestler ever,’ rather than, ‘Oh, that’s Trish, that’s the one on the Playboy cover. You know what I mean?
“It’s just not important, it has nothing to do with wrestling to me. I was in wrestling to be a women’s wrestler and to be the best wrestler and, you know, champion; check and check. Ah yeah, Playboy‘s nothing to do, it’s just not my thing.”
