With The Bella Twins turning on Ronda Rousey, the Raw Women’s Championship Match for WWE Evolution is now official.
Ronda Rousey will defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Nikki Bella at the all-women’s pay-per-view event on October 28. Dave Meltzer first reported that the match was planned for Evolution on the August 19 edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
In a rematch from WWE Super Show-Down, Rousey teamed up with Nikki and Brie Bella against The Riott Squad on Raw. After Rousey submitted Ruby Riott with the Armbar, the twin duo suddenly attacked the Raw Women’s Champion during their post-match celebration.
Nikki threw the first punch, dropping Rousey with a forearm to the back of the head before joining in with her sister for a 2-on-1 beatdown that spilled out of and around the ring in short order. Rousey didn’t go down without a fight, brawling to her feet and forcing The Bellas to adjust, but a combination of the numbers game and the element of surprise ultimately left the titleholder relatively helpless against them.
Natalya helped Ronda Rousey leave the arena following the attack.
In this backstage interview with Kayla Braxton, Nikki and Brie explained why they ambushed “The Baddest Woman on the Planet.”
Brie: “I mean, been by our side? You mean taking up our space, standing in front of us, taking our shine? Is that what you mean?”
Nikki: “Brie and I are here for Evolution but we’re here to remind everyone, even Ronda Rousey, that this is a “Bellalution.”
