According to PWInsider, WWE had plans for Reigns to wrestle Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam, but the word going around backstage at SmackDown is that the bout will likely be dropped to let the storyline play out.
After avoiding injury when a lighting rig fell on him during SmackDown last week and nearly getting hit by a car on Raw, Reigns threatened Murphy into confessing that he saw Rowan at the scene of the first incident.
In a post-SmackDown video, Bryan denied any involvement and suggested that Murphy said Rowan’s name under duress.
According to PWInsider, multiple people have been discussed as Reigns’ mystery attacker and it’s possible that neither Bryan nor Rowan will be revealed as the perpetrator.
No matter what happens, Reigns and Bryan are likely headed for a long feud since they’re advertised to wrestle at a number of live events beginning next month.
