According to Dave Meltzer in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Simon Gotch caused a scene before SmackDown LIVE on April 4 on Orlando, Florida, which was the day before WWE announced they had come to terms on a mutually agreed upon release.
According to Meltzer, Gotch accidentally tipped over his own chair in catering and was furious after he fell down. The fall itself was reportedly bad enough for him to cause a scene.
The report states:
Regarding Gotch and his being let go, while this may have nothing to do with it, the day before he was let go, there was an incident with him in catering before the 4/4 Smackdown show in Orlando where he accidentally tipped over his chair and got mad when he went down, which was bad enough that it was a scene. The fact that English, not him, did the job to Jordan & Gable, even though it was a tag match, later that night would indicate to me that his being let go was not something planned out in advance, or he’d have been the one to lose the fall.
Gotch apparently responded to the report with this tweet.

Gotch is already taking independent bookings, so he will try to make his name on the indie circuit while his former tag team partner Aiden English may be set for a mid-card push on SmackDown LIVE.
