– Sheamus recently spoke with Delaware Online and took questions from fans. Below are highlights:
His wrestling heroes growing up:
Wrestling heroes were Macho Man, Bret Hart, Ultimate Warrior. Those were my favorite three. I was also a big “Razor” Ramon fan, too.
Did he have a favorite match as a kid?
When Bret Hart won King of the Ring and beat Bam Bam Bigelow. I just loved watching Bret get beat down and beat down, but would still keep coming back. He had a lot of resilience and was able to take a beating. When you look at a lot of kids’ super heroes, good guys, they were the ones who seemed more human to me because he would take punishment, but he would still come back.
Every match, he looked like he’d been through a war. That definitely struck a cord with me. Like I’ve never been a fan of Supermans or God-like super heroes. I’m more into human aspects. That’s why I’m a fan of the Daredevil TV series. I think it’s really cool. I think that’s why people can relate to it. He goes through war and overcomes the odds. Never the biggest guy, but had more heart than anybody.
Bringing back his aggressive side:
Yeah, I got bored. I got tired of waiting. It’s more frustration than anything. I work as hard as anybody — any Dolph Ziggler or Daniel Bryan. I’m just as talented, if not more talented. Because of my size, I can do so many more things. I’ve never been given credit for what I can do and how I can do it and how I move and how hard I work. And I’ve been overlooked because certain groups of the audience have put a black stamp on me. I’ve got this stigma attached to me because of rumors that weren’t even true.
So, I’m not going to sit there and take it anymore. I’m just going to fight back. I’m going to take it out on all their little heroes or their so-called “under achievers” or their little fan favorites. I’m going to take it out on them because I can’t take it out on the audience, so I’m going to take it out on the next best thing — their idols. And I’m having so much fun doing it.
Who he would face if he could face anyone from WWE history:
Right now, it’s Brock Lesnar. I want Brock Lesnar. Simple as that. Brock Lesnar to me is a man who shows up now and again, and obviously considers himself the toughest man in WWE. And I consider myself THE toughest guy in WWE. I’ve been saying for a long time that I want a crack at Brock Lesnar. I wanted a crack at Undertaker before, but that streak is gone now and the opportunity is gone. I’m looking at today’s toughest streak. I want Brock Lesnar. And I want him at Wrestlemania.
