– WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins recently spoke with The Chicago Tribune to promote tonight’s RAW. The full interview is at this link. Below are highlights:
Q. Several wrestlers opt to live in Florida or California. Why did you decide to stay in the Midwest?
A. I’m never leaving. I just like the people and the attitude. I like the seasons. Fall, right now, is the best time of year. It’s so perfect outside. I love the simplicity of it. I travel a lot and life is crazy, particularly now that I’m the world heavyweight champion. It’s nice when I have days off to go home and relax and literally take the weight off my shoulders and enjoy the simple things.
Q. Are you mean to fans when you meet them because of your bad-guy persona in WWE storylines, or are you pretty friendly?
A. I’m not mean to fans because I’m a bad guy. I’m mean to them because they’re rude. If they stalk me at the airport at 4 in the morning, don’t expect to get a picture. That’s not OK. They can’t hang outside my hotel or come to the gym and stare at me for a half hour and expect me to be like “Cool. Awesome.” My favorite thing is to just run into fans coincidentally. Today the National Car Rental guy recognized me and got so excited and wanted to take a picture. Awesome. It was a fan that happened to run into me. To me, there’s a distinct difference. Don’t get me wrong — our fanbase is super passionate and I love them, but there’s a difference between stalking me at the airport and just happening to see me.
Q. You’ve traveled from airport to airport with the Money in the Bank briefcase and now the WWE Championship. Which is a bigger pain to lug around?
A. The Money in the Bank briefcase is way worse. There’s nowhere to hide it. I’m at the airport right now and my belt is just in my carry-on. Nobody knows it’s there. Only when I go through the X-ray thing does anyone else see it. (TSA will) give me a second look or say “Congratulations, champ.” It’s not really a big deal. Most people don’t know what it is. The briefcase is a whole other thing. You have to walk around the airport with this stupid briefcase. As a matter of fact, I’m seeing (WWE Superstar) Sheamus walk by with the briefcase right now at the airport and everyone is staring at him like “What an idiot.”
