Ronda Rousey nearly severed a finger while filming a television show.
The WWE Superstar, actress and former MMA fighter revealed in a post today on Instagram that she was filming the third season of the FOX drama “9-1-1” when a boat door fell on her (left) hand.
Rousey initially thought she “jammed her fingers” and finished her take before she shared what happened with the episode’s director. She was rushed via ambulance to a hospital where doctors reattached her bone and tendon to her middle finger with a plate and screws.
According to TMZ Sports, the accident occurred last week in Mexico and she was transported to a hospital in San Diego, California. She also fractured the tip of her ring finger.
Rousey noted in her post that she returned to work the next day and finished filming her scenes before going home to recover.
Rousey posted a photo of the injury on Instagram and wrote, “Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50% range of motion back in 3 days. There’s so much more than I can write here, stayed tuned via @rondarouseydotcom for the full story. And of course tune in to see how well I can act like my finger didn’t just fall off in this upcoming season of @911onfox.”
Deadline reported last week that Rousey will have a recurring role in the third season of “9-1-1,” which premieres on FOX on Monday, September 23 at 8/7 C. It’s a scripted drama series about first responders in Los Angeles, California. Rousey plays Lena Bosko, who is described as “a stoic and fearless member of the Los Angeles Fire Department Station 136 who leaps into action to save lives when a disaster hits.”
Rousey has been on hiatus from WWE since WrestleMania 35, with Rousey noting that she and her husband Travis Browne were trying to start a family. She broke the pinky knuckle on her right hand during her match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania.
