It’s been over 30 days since WWE announced Roman Reigns was suspended for his first violation of their Wellness Policy. After it was finally lifted on Thursday, he will be returning to the ring on Saturday at a house show in Wildwood, New Jersey ahead of his televised return in the main event of Battleground the following day.
In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, editor Dave Meltzer’s sources in WWE indicate the substance Reigns tested positive for was Adderall, a prescription medicine used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
The drug, a combination of the stimulants amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, can be abused (like any drug). In Adderall’s case, usually either for recreational purposes, for students to sharpen their focus or the same way athletes use other types of amphetamines or “speed,” to mask fatigue or injury.
It’s not 100% confirmed Reigns was popped for Adderall, and we certainly won’t know why he was taking it unless he chooses to speak on the subject.
During his time away from the ring, Reigns grew out his beard. Here he is posing with fans at an airport on Friday.
