TMZ Sports reported on Wednesday that Ric Flair is once again a married man after marrying his longtime fiancee, Wendy Barlow, earlier in the day at a “dope” resort in North Florida.
As it turns out, Flair and Barlow didn’t actually get married.
Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that this event was actually a commitment ceremony.
So what is a commitment ceremony you ask?
The difference between a commitment ceremony and a wedding is that rather than it being a legally binding ceremony, it is simply a public affirmation of a couple’s commitment to one another. Generally, the couple is a lesbian, gay, or transgender couple, and thus are unable to marry under the law.
TMZ Sports shared a video of Dolph Ziggler walking Barlow down the aisle and Flair making his entrance to the song “Ric Flair Drip” by Offset and Metro Boomin.
In the video below, Flair and Barlow “tie the knot.”
Here is more footage from their commitment ceremony.
Flair, who has been married four times, has been dating Barlow since 2012. They have known each other since 1993 as Barlow appeared as his valet that year in WCW. She was known as Fifi the Maid.
Among those in attendance at their commitment ceremony were Charlotte Flair, The Undertaker, Michelle McCool, Fit Finlay, Charles Robinson, Conrad Thompson, and former NBA star Dennis Rodman.
