After being hospitalized over the weekend, Ric Flair underwent surgery this afternoon. He is out of a medically induced coma and now resting.
This was confirmed by a WWE representative to TMZ. It’s unclear how the surgery went but TMZ was told that Flair’s family is by his side and waiting to meet with doctors.
At this point, there’s still no official word as to what type of procedure he underwent.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer, Flair’s condition is “still real bad” after undergoing surgery. Meltzer posted the following at 4:14 p.m. on the F4WOnline.com message board.
He’s out of surgery.
It’s good that he’s out of surgery.
It’s still real bad. I had it just told to me in some detail, not exactly identical, but very similar to what happened to my dad. However, his kidneys are functioning which is the main difference and no cancer issues.
After initially downplaying the hospital visit, Flair’s management team wrote a message late last night asking for fans and friends to pray for Flair as he is dealing with “tough medical issues.”
Not much more is clear other than the situation is extremely serious. According to Meltzer, Flair is believed to be dealing a heart problem and another issue.
