A return to WWE has been rumored for Rey Mysterio since he was a surprise entrant in the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble Match in January and it will finally happen next week.
WWE has announced that Mysterio will square off with United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a WWE World Cup Qualifying Match on next week’s historic 1000th episode of SmackDown LIVE.

WWE aired a video package on SmackDown LIVE hyping Mysterio’s return next week.
This will be Mysterio’s first match since finishing up his independent wrestling commitments in early September. According to F4WOnline, he signed a two-year contract to return to WWE, which includes an option for him to give notice at the 18-month mark.
We previously reported that WWE creative’s initial plans for Mysterio were for him to join SmackDown LIVE and feud with Nakamura.
WWE Crown Jewel on November 2 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia will feature a one-night World Cup Tournament with eight of the top Superstars from Raw and SmackDown LIVE battling it out to determine “the best in the world.” John Cena, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, and Randy Orton are the first four Superstars to qualify for the tournament.
