With the National Guard in tow, Lilian Garcia kicked off WrestleMania XXVIII on April 1, 2012 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida by singing “America the Beautiful.” With her stirring rendition at the event, the beautiful songstress surpassed recording legend Aretha Franklin for the most musical performances at the annual pay-per-view extravaganza.
While promoting her milestone performance in an interview with Puerto Rican newspaper Vocero, Garcia was asked how old she is. The WWE Diva, however, declined to reveal her age as she claimed there are individuals in the sports-entertainment organization who “assess everything by a number.”
I’m very proud of who I am and what I have achieved. Age is just a number. I have worked with WWE for eleven years and have earned the respect of everyone around me, but there are some things that cannot be said.
Garcia’s widely listed birth date of August 19, 1973, is not true as she was actually born on August 19, 1966. She is currently 50-years-old.
Shortly after her return to WWE in December 2011, Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer disclosed that Garcia is either 44-years-old or more likely 45 — she was 45.
Here’s a surprise. Lilian Garcia is actually 44 or more likely 45 years old (her listed age in Wikipedia with an August 19, 1966, birthday, although tons of birthdays in Wikipedia profiles are wrong). Her age had always been listed as being eight or so years younger than that, and she looks like a very pretty woman in her mid-30s. But there was a 1983 article on her sister, Dalla Garcia, who was crowned Miss South Carolina that year and competed in that years’s Miss America pageant, talking about her younger sister Lilian, who at the time was 16, and was a regular in teenage beauty pageants and aspired to follow her sister as Miss South Carolina. Lilian Garcia placed in the Miss South Carolina pageant several years later and was an aspiring lead singer auditioning for bands in the New York area before she got the gig on Raw originally in 1999.
