Fans expect WrestleMania to be the most impressive event of the year, and rightfully so. With all the money and preparation put into ‘Mania every year, it usually delivers as a pretty fantastic show. This year’s event looks like it should be a good one, but there is one very large elephant in the room when it comes to this year’s spectacle, and that is the main event between Roman Reigns and Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
It’s been reported for months that WrestleMania is going to be Reigns’ big moment where he finally overcomes the odds and begins his first significant title reign. However, there’s a good chance that if Reigns stands tall with the title over his head at the end of the night, the fireworks that go off will be drowned out by boos. So is there any chance WWE changes course?
It’s pretty much no.
Dave Meltzer reports in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE still plans on having Reigns capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 32. There are also no plans to turn him heel.
On the 2/25 Smackdown show, they piped in fake boos for the HHH promo at the start of the show where originally it was mostly cheers. So they are not looking for anyone to think he’s a face or planning a face turn, at least at this point. As of mid-week, nothing had changed and Reigns was scheduled to win the title at Mania and be the main event face at the 2017 and 2018 Mania
