Despite a recent bicep injury, it looks like Rey Mysterio is returning to WWE.
Mysterio is traveling to Birmingham, Alabama later this week to meet WWE doctors, according to PWInsider. He will be having his partially torn bicep checked out ahead of potentially signing a new contract with WWE.
Mysterio suffered a grade one partially torn left bicep in a match for Northeast Wrestling on March 2. Due to the injury, he will have to miss New Japan Pro Wrestling’s show in Long Beach, California on Sunday. NJPW announced Wednesday that Mysterio’s match against Jushin Thunder Liger at Strong Style Evolved is officially off. It will instead be Liger vs. Will Ospreay.
Mysterio last appeared regularly for WWE in 2014 before his 13-year run ended in early 2015 with the expiration of his contract. He returned to WWE for a surprise Royal Rumble appearance in January and has had talks with the company about returning since.
