Kelly Kelly has never been afraid of showing off her assets.
After debuting in ECW in June 2006 as an exhibitionist, the beautiful blonde gained instant popularity with her sexy Kelly’s Expose striptease segment – Kelly appeared topless by removing her bra in her premiere appearance. Unfortunately, her then-boyfriend, Mike Knox, failed to see the fun and constantly interrupted the bikini-clad Diva. After an ugly breakup with Knox, Kelly performed as a member of Extreme Expose, a dancing trio that also included ECW Divas Layla and Brooke.
Over the next two years after she became a respected wrestler within championship ranks taking on the likes of Maryse, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Lay-Cool and Vickie Guerrero, 2011 proved to be a breakout year for Kelly. She was drafted back to Raw in April, on June 20th she captured her first WWE Divas Championship, she was voted #82 in Maxim’s Top 100 list, was ranked 15th Best Female Singles Wrestler in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s annual PWI Female 50, she graced the cover of Maxim’s December issue, and was the devoted subject of numerous fansites.
At the time of her departure from WWE in 2012, Kelly was the most adored Diva in the sports-entertainment organization. Her presence was requested at conventions, late night talk shows and charity events all over the world. After years of training, her inherent toughness, athleticism and beauty were fused with excellent grappling ability.
Why Kelly Kelly Never Posed For Playboy: It was rumored in late 2008 that WWE and Playboy would extend its partnership with Kelly Kelly appearing nude in an issue to be released during WrestleMania XXV season. The blonde starlet, however, debunked the rumor in a MySpace post.
Kelly wrote in October 2008, “hey everyone! i know its been a while but i wanted to check in now that i am able to get on and post..im sorry that i dont post more but i just dont get on as much as i want to but i do read all the messages so i thank you soo much…all of you…ok so anyways here is the answer to the question people have been asking me..i finally have a chance to set the record straight…im not posing for playboy..nothing against playboy at all but i dont know who is posing for playboy but it wont be me. i just want to concentrate on wrestling right now.
“thank you all for your support..it means soo much to me and keep the messages coming. xoxo kelly kelly.”
Adding fuel to the fire, WWE Magazine predicted in 2009 that Kelly would appear naked for the famous publication: “Kelly Kelly graces the pages of Playboy. We can continue dreaming, can’t we?”
Will Kelly Kelly Return To WWE?: While WWE officials have sought the services of Kelly Kelly, the former WWE Divas Champion has not been eager in returning to the sports-entertainment organization she called home for six years.
In early 2013, WWE officials proposed a match for WrestleMania XXVIV that would see former Divas face off against the company’s contracted crop of talent. The former Divas tapped for the encounter were Kelly, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Maria and Maryse, with then-Divas Champion Kaitlyn, Layla and three other competitors rounding out the present-day squad. Trish Stratus would have managed one of the teams. The plan, however, was nixed after negotiations with the former female competitors fell through or stalled. In the case of Kelly, the Jacksonville, Florida native requested a higher guaranteed salary than offered as well as the rights to the Kelly Kelly name for outside projects. WWE officials ceased negotiations following her demands and opted to go in another direction for the Divas at the annual pay-per-view spectacular.
Kelly Kelly’s Background: Kelly Kelly, whose real name is Barbara Jean Blank (known professionally as Barbie Blank), was born on January 15, 1987 in Jacksonville, Florida to a Jewish father and a Christian mother. While growing up in the “Sunshine State,” Blank participated in gymnastics for a decade. After quitting the sport, Blank took up cheerleading. While in high school, Blank studied broadcast journalism in hopes that she would become a television anchor. She worked as a bikini model for Hawaiian Tropic and Venus Swimwear when John Laurinaitis, WWE’s then-Vice President of Talent Relations, discovered her in a fashion catalog.
Find Kelly Kelly Online: Kelly Kelly’s social media presence is limited to Facebook and Twitter. Her Facebook account is located at www.facebook.com/TheBarbieBlank while her Twitter handle is TheBarbieBlank.
Like other celebrities, there are numerous accounts on Facebook impersonating the model-turned-wrestler. Besides Facebook and Twitter, Kelly has no other online presence; she does not have an account on Instagram, or any other social networking website. She said in October 2012 via Twitter, “I don’t have Instagram guys sorry for the confusion! All of accounts on Instagram of me are fakes!”
Kelly Kelly’s Theme Song: Kelly Kelly has made her presence known in WWE through music as she utilized “Holla” by Desiree Jackson as her theme song throughout the entirety of her six-year career in WWE. The catchy tune was remixed in 2008.
Kelly Kelly Poses For Maxim: After ranking in Maxim’s “the definitive list of the world’s most beautiful women” for 2011, the “Hot 100,” Kelly Kelly graced the cover of the magazine’s December 2011 issue. The blonde starlet showed off her tight curves alongside a ZL1 Camero.
“I posed with a Camaro. It was a special edition, and there were only four made when I did it. They were like, ‘Don’t touch it with your heels! Don’t do this…’ And the owner was freaking out, watching the whole time, making sure I wasn’t scratching it or anything,” Kelly remarked to the official WWE website.
Who Has Kelly Kelly Dated?: Kelly Kelly is currently dating Sheldon Souray, a 37-year-old Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). During her WWE career, the Florida native was romantically linked to multiple professional wrestlers including Andrew “Test” Martin, Batista, Chris Jericho, CM Punk and Justin Gabriel.
Martin, who dated Kelly for two-and-a-half years, was found dead in his Tampa, Florida home on March 13, 2009, just four days before his 34th birthday. His death was ruled an accidental overdose of oxycodone by a coroner. Kelly opened up about the death of her ex-lover during an interview the following January with The Daily Star a popular daily tabloid newspaper published in the United Kingdom.
“I like to talk about him – to tell the world how great a man he was,” Kelly remarked. “He was a big part of my life, we were together for two-and-a-half years. When I first started, Andrew looked after me. We were there together, we had some good times and some hard times – he wanted more than anything to be healthy. I honestly could not say enough about him – he was the love of my life. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about Andrew. He was an amazing person who had so much love to give the world – he loved wrestling.”
Sharing A Kiss: Kelly Kelly has locked lips with a select few WWE Superstars throughout her sports-entertainment career. The accomplished entertainer has been photographed kissing Chris Jericho and Justin Gabriel, both of whom she dated during her tenure in WWE. Plus, during a television interview overseas, the blonde bombshell pretended to lock lips with Candice Michelle.
After debuting on the premiere edition of ECW on Sci Fi on June 13, 2006 as an exhibitionist, Kelly Kelly gained instant popularity with her highly revealing Kelly’s Expose striptease segment: in her first appearance, the blonde starlet appeared topless by unhooking her bra. Unfortunately, her on-screen boyfriend, Mike Knox, failed to see the fun and constantly interrupted the scantily-clad Diva’s suggestive dance routine and ultimately began forcing the Florida native to accompany him to the ring so he could keep his eye on her.
In a 2011 interview with Maxim, Kelly revealed that WWE chief Vince McMahon demonstrated the extreme dance she performed on the night of her debut.
“I’d only been training for two months when I found out I was going to start appearing on TV – as an exhibitionist!” Kelly recalled. “When Vince McMahon showed me the routine, I was in shock, but, you know, anything to get my foot in the door. It was the most nerve-racking minute of my life.”
A newly single Kelly returned to ECW on January 16, 2007 and promised the Expose would be back but that now she was bringing friends. The trio of Kelly, 2006 Diva Search winner Layla and Brooke danced in the ring with moves so hot the ring almost melted during their suggestive performances.
That August, the three Divas brought the extreme to FHM and appeared in an exclusive online pictorial that drove web traffic off the charts. Unfortunately for its devout followers, dissention amongst the Expose members set in when “chick magnet” The Miz appeared on the ECW scene. In November, the group dissolved for good after Brooke was released from her contract with WWE while Kelly and Layla settled their differences in the ring.
Kelly would later admit that her “dancing skills were not up to par” with Layla and Brooke.
“I tried to keep up with them but I have to say I wasn’t the best dancer,” Kelly said in a 2009 interview.
