In an interview with the New York Post to promote WWE’s live event at Madison Square Garden event on Tuesday, Kane said he is making the most out of this main event run because he doesn’t know how many opportunities he has left.
“I have to take advantage of everyone that comes along. This might be the last one. I don’t know. I certainly think the match at Royal Rumble is going to be special for me,” Kane said.
On July 28, 2018, at the Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar will put his Universal Championship on the line against Kane and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat Match.
Kane won his last major singles title on July 18, 2010, during a Money in the Bank pay-per-view. After winning a Money in the Bank Ladder Match against Big Show, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston and Matt Hardy, Kane cashed in his contract the very same night and beat Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship.
“I’ve been in WWE for 22 years and that’s a long time and I still think I perform at a high level,” he said. “But nevertheless, it’s a long time and I know I don’t have many opportunities like this left.”
Kane sees a lot of himself in Braun Strowman, who he will wrestle on Tuesday. There is a similar combination of power, size, and athleticism to go along with Strowman’s growing understanding of the psychology aspect of wrestling.
“The company has done a tremendous job with him, you know positioning him where he needs to be and he gets it and that can be a rarity often,” Kane said. “I think he has a really bright future ahead of him. I think he is going to be a guy that going forth for many years is going to be at top or near the top of WWE.”
He believes wrestlers with their combination of size and athletic ability are becoming a rare breed in WWE compared to past eras.
“If you look at our roster, it seems like 20 years ago we had a lot of big guys, not as big as him, but a lot of big guys,” Kane said. “Nowadays not so much, I think our guys are better athletes now but they are not as big.”
Kane also talked about The Undertaker making fewer appearances.
“Undertaker for almost as long as many of us have been watching WWE he’s been part of it,” Kane said. “So, it’s one of those things like man, almost a piece is missing now to some extent.”
