One day after NXT TakeOver: Respect, former TNA World Heavyweight Champion James Storm made a surprise debut inside the ropes of NXT at Thursday’s taping in Orlando, Florida. Storm has yet to sign a deal with WWE and lhis former employer wants to lock him down before it can happen.
TNA Wrestling officials offered Storm a new deal last week — with a big pay increase — but while thinking it over, he decided to visit with friends in WWE at NXT’s show in Nashville, Tennessee on Oct. 2.
Storm was offered a ticket to Orlando for NXT TakeOver: Respect to continue discussing working together in the future after talking with WWE officials at the show.
WWE officials want Storm to sign a contract similar to Samoa Joe’s initial deal which would allow him to continue working independent shows. No agreement for further work was signed before, or after, his debut NXT match on Thursday. Company officials did however indicate that he’d be wanted at the next set of tapings.
TNA executives reached out to Storm Thursday morning after reports surfaced saying he was at TakeOver to offer him more money to re-sign. He is currently weighing his options.
