WWE issued a statement today noting that Hulk Hogan will not be involved in any upcoming WWE events.
The statement, which was issued to F4WOnline.com and PWInsider.com, reads: “Hulk Hogan is an important part of Andre the Giant’s history, however his appearance at tonight’s HBO premiere of the documentary and his plans to help others learn from his mistakes does not mean WWE is rehiring him. Hogan is not scheduled to be at any upcoming WWE events.”
The statement comes because Hogan will be at a WWE-related function, the HBO premiere party for the Andre the Giant documentary tonight in Los Angeles, California. Hogan was invited by HBO to attend and not by WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, WWE sources have said that while WWE has had conversations of late with Hogan, they were about his interest in helping others learn from mistakes he has made in life. The company said that quote has been misinterpreted with people believing a return is imminent.
Hogan was among those interviewed for the documentary, which explores Andre’s upbringing in France, his celebrated WWE career, and forays into the entertainment world. He is seen in the official trailer explaining Andre’s presence in wrestling.
The Andre the Giant documentary premieres on HBO on April 10.
