Finn Balor Relinquishes the WWE Universal Title, New Champion Being Crowned on Next Week’s RAW

As seen in the opening segment of tonight’s WWE RAW, Finn Balor appeared in Brooklyn just 24 hours removed from winning the WWE Universal Championship, with his arm in a sling prepared to relinquish the championship.

As previously reported, Balor suffered a shoulder injury after taking a powerbomb into the barrier. He’s expected to be out of action for up to 4-6 months.

Balor cut a promo on how he achieved the impossible at SummerSlam, then relinquished the title. Balor said he is coming for the title as soon as he’s able to.

It was announced by RAW General Manager Mick Foley and RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon that a new Universal Champion will be crowned on next week’s RAW after a series of matches involving Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns.
