WWE is debuting a new pay-per-view event and Brock Lesnar is set to defend the Universal Championship on the show.
A video released by the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Twitter and Facebook brought the announcement that the building will be hosting a Raw-exclusive pay-per-view event called WWE Great Balls of Fire on July 9. It was previously rumored that the show would be called Bad Blood.

It was also announced that Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship at the event. Lesnar has yet to defend the title since winning it from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33, though a program with Braun Strowman was established the following night on Raw.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar’s opponent at WWE Great Balls of Fire is expected to be Strowman. This is based on WWE making plans for Lesnar to face Strowman before SummerSlam on August 20.
WWE has also been teasing Finn Balor and Seth Rollins as possible opponents for Lesnar, but if he ends up facing Strowman, it will likely lead to a Lesnar vs. Strowman rematch at SummerSlam. According to Meltzer, Lesnar is scheduled to wrestle at SummerSlam.
Prior to WrestleMania 33, the only things planned for Lesnar was a program with Strowman, and a program with Roman Reigns leading up to WrestleMania 34.
In related news, it doesn’t look like Lesnar will work WWE Extreme Rules on June 4 in Baltimore, Maryland. Lesnar is not being advertised for the event, and the current direction for the show appears to be Strowman vs. Reigns, Balor vs. Bray Wyatt, Rollins vs. Samoa Joe, and Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz.
