This Sunday at the Royal Rumble, Braun Strowman gets another shot at the Universal Championship when he faces titleholder Brock Lesnar and Kane in a Triple Threat Match. We won’t know the results of that match until Sunday night, but a report suggests the WWE is moving Strowman in a new direction come Monday at Raw.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Strowman’s next feud looks to be “awesome.”
The current plan from WWE’s creative department is for The Miz to defend the Intercontinental Championship against “The Monster Among Men” at WrestleMania 34. This is why The Miz’s win over Roman Reigns this past Monday at Raw 25 was as clean as it was since the company plans on making the bout one of the biggest matches at WrestleMania 34.
There is resistance to the plan as there are people who feel it’s time to make Strowman the Universal Champion and that he would win the Triple Threat Match at the Royal Rumble. Vince McMahon, however, isn’t interested in crowning Strowman the Universal Champion at this time as his plan for WrestleMania 34, which dates back nearly one year, remains Lesnar defending the Universal Championship against Reigns.
WrestleMania 34 takes place on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana and will be streamed live around the world on the WWE Network.
