WWE may soon have less hugging and side ponytails on its flagship show because Bayley was injured during Monday Night Raw — and her status for SummerSlam is unclear.
The injury was confirmed after Smackdown LIVE last night along with a video of Bayley getting her shoulder examined by the medical team. She was then shown with her shoulder taped up.
An emotional Bayley said, “I just did something to my shoulder that everything just tensed up around it. I don’t know. I’ve never had injuries like this before, so I can’t really know what it is.”
Initial evaluations were inconclusive due to the swelling in her shoulder.
Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com: “We’ve determined the injury is shoulder-related, and she will be going under further diagnostic testing later this week to determine the extent of the injury and also establish a timetable for recovery.”
Due to the inconclusive nature of her examination, Bayley’s status for SummerSlam, where she is slated to challenge Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship, is up in the air.
Bayley isn’t the only WWE star to get injured recently while wrestling Nia Jax. On Raw last week, Emma suffered an injury to her eye during their quick match.
Over the weekend, Emma posted this photo on Instagram revealing the injury to her eye.
Despite the injury, Emma worked a match on Monday night against Mickie James that was taped for WWE Main Event.
