Above is video from this week’s ESPN “Off The Top Rope” segment with Jonathan Coachman looking back at WWE TLC, RAW and SmackDown.
In the videos below, Coach is joined by Baron Corbin. Coach asks about winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. Corbin says he’s walked out of NFL tunnels in front of large crowds but the WrestleMania experience was surreal. Corbin says the walk to the ring was unbelievable and seemed like the longest walk of his life. Corbin has tried explaining the feeling to people but he can’t. He says you spend a lifetime chasing that feeling because it was so unreal.
Regarding WWE NXT, Corbin says they started with a small group of guys in Tampa until Triple H got on-board and wanted to take them to another level. Corbin praises Triple H for building the WWE Performance Center and giving talents the tools they need to make it. Corbin says the Superstars took Triple H’s efforts to heart and took it as a challenge to really become something special. Corbin say everyone has put in a ton of work and grind non-stop to make NXT what it is today.
Coach asks about Corbin’s NFL career and he calls it awesome. Corbin trained every day of his life to be the best football player. He prides himself on hard work and dedication, and a little bit of violence, and that got him to the next level in football. Coach asks how Corbin’s Golden Gloves boxing career helped with WWE and he talks about how his dad wanted him involved in sports growing up but he really enjoyed the physical sports – wrestling, football and boxing. Corbin says you have to dedicate yourself to those sports but he believes you have to be a man to play – you have to take the pain, frustration and anger to use it against someone, to knock them down, laugh at them and do it again the next play. Corbin says he’s good at running his mouth and that helped him out. He tailored what he did to be the most physical and dominant athlete he could be and boxing helped with that. Corbin says all different aspects of sports, boxing and jiu-jitsu has tailored him to be the best WWE Superstar he can be.
Coach believes Corbin is the type of guy Triple H and Vince McMahon wants – well spoken, put together and tough. Coach asks what’s next and Corbin says the sky is the limit, which he proved at WWE TLC with the win over Kalisto. Corbin says he uses the physical tools he has, the ones you can’t train for – size and strength, and tailors them to benefit him the most. Corbin says most people his size can’t move like he can and he uses that to his advantage. Corbin has his eye on the WWE World Title and says he will put anyone down who gets in his way.
