Jonathan Rechner, better known among wrestling fans as Balls Mahoney, died at the age of 44, WWE confirmed Tuesday.
The news was broken by Jonny Candido, brother of the late Chris Candido.

According to Candido, Mahoney died suddenly in his home on Tuesday evening. There were ambulances in front of his house, and when Candido called Mahoney’s home to find out what was happening, his wife broke the unfortunate news.
Mahiney is best remembered for his time in ECW during the late 1990s and early 2000s, where he gained a decent following due in large part to his name and fondness for taking more chair shots than any sane man should. Mahoney also had a brief run as part of WWE’s revamped version of ECW in the late 2000s, where strangely enough he was part of romantic storyline with Kelly Kelly of all people.
The details behind Mahoney’s passing are unknown at this time. We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
