On Raw’s 25th Anniversary this past Monday, The Undertaker emerged for the first time since his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33, live at the birthplace of Raw, the Manhattan Center. The Deadman cut a short promo that only added further confusion on his future in the ring.
Here is WWE.com’s recap of this confusing segment:
“For the first time since Roman Reigns sent him into the great beyond at WrestleMania, The Undertaker returned at Raw 25, resurfacing in the site of his Team Red debut in the “sacred ground” of The Manhattan Center to speak on his enduring legacy. Despite the events of The Showcase of the Immortals, The Deadman was resolute in proclaiming his dominance, declaring that all his old foes had “answered to the reaper,” from “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to Mick Foley to Kane. But now, with all his enemies laid in the earth behind him, he declared that it was truly time they rest in peace.”
Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch was told by a wrestler friend who was at the show (likely Sean “X-Pac” Waltman) that The Undertaker got lost during the promo because he was thrown off by how small the Manhattan Center is. This is apparently why he sent mixed messages in his speech.
The Undertaker is slated to wrestle this year as it was reported two weeks ago by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he will be facing John Cena at WrestleMania 34. However, Meltzer speculated in his report that they would kick off their feud at Raw 25, which of course, didn’t happen. He also noted the possibility of The Undertaker changing his mind on wrestling at WrestleMania 34.
