It doesn’t look like Jinder Mahal is dropping the WWE Championship anytime soon.
On Friday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez talked about Mahal’s upcoming WWE Championship defense against Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Hell in a Cell on October 8. Alvarez said that the only way he could see WWE making the decision to have Mahal drop the WWE Championship to Nakamura at Hell in a Cell if a show on WWE’s tour of India in December is broadcast on the WWE Network. Mahal would then win the WWE Championship in front of the people of India.
Alvarez believes that it would have been a huge waste of time to strap the WWE Championship on Mahal and have him lose the title before the company heads overseas for the tour in India.
Alvarez says WWE’s original creative plans for Mahal were for him hold onto the WWE Championship until WrestleMania 34 next April.
