Chris Adonis’ departure from Impact Wrestling was apparently not known ahead of time by management, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The 35-year-old announced his departure from the company after the third night of the latest set of television tapings on Saturday, Jan. 13.
I have to announce my departure from Impact Wrestling.
Thank you to @sonjaydutterson @EdNordholm & @ScottDAmore— Chris Masters (@ChrisAdonis) January 13, 2018
Meltzer noted that Adonis left on his own and management was not sure why he made the decision to leave. While he left after the third night of tapings, he was scheduled for the entire week. So basically, he quit the company without warning.
Adonis is best known for his time with WWE under the name Chris Masters. He worked for the promotion from 2005 through 2007 and again from 2009 through 2011. He returned to Impact Wrestling last April following a brief stint with the company in 2015. With his departure from the company, he’s exclusively working independent shows again.
