Egyptian Boxing Champion Makes His NXT Wrestling Debut (Photos)

Mohamed Fahim, a 28-year-old boxing champion from Cairo, Egypt who joined the WWE Performance Center earlier this year, made his wrestling debut at last Saturday’s NXT live event in Cocoa, Florida.

In his first wrestling outing, Fahim squared off against Jason. The match, however, resulted in a no contest after Lars Sullivan attacked both competitors and laid them out with the Freak Accident.

Following the show, Fahim posted some photos on Instagram from his debut match.

Back in January, WWE announced that Fahim reported to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida to begin in-ring training.

Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 220 pounds, Fahim started boxing competitively in 2007, winning championships at the university level, as well as gold medals in national events. Fahim is also an accomplished kickboxer, having placed first in a national competition in 2014. His record stands at 1-0 in MMA action.

Fahim impressed WWE talent scouts during a tryout in April 2017 in Dubai. The four-day camp, which included 34 prospects from 18 countries, has yielded several other recent additions to WWE’s developmental program, including Nasser Alruwayeh, the first Kuwaiti man to join WWE; Indian television star Saurav Gurjar; Rinku Singh, a former pro baseball player from India and subject of the Netflix movie Million Dollar Arm; Shadia Bseiso of Jordan, WWE’s first female signing from the Middle East; and Mae Young Classic alumna Kavita Devi, the first Indian woman to sign with WWE.

Mohamed Fahim is not his official WWE ring name as the official website of the WWE Performance Center, WWEPerformanceCenter.com, has him listed as Mohamed Abdelfattah.
