Despite being suspended from Monday Night Raw for 30 days by WWE, it looks like Ronda Rousey will be making an on-camera appearance at WWE Extreme Rules on Sunday, July 15.
WWE posted a video today of Rousey doing a sit-down interview with Renee Young to reflect on her suspension, and to deliver a message to Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss.
“Even though I’m suspended from Raw, I’m not suspended from Extreme Rules,” Rousey said. “So, I’m going to be buying a ticket. It’s going to be a front row ticket.”
Young asked Rousey about Bliss about defending the Raw Women’s Championship against Nia Jax at Extreme Rule and “The Baddest Woman on The Planet” said she’s “excited.”
The suspension stems from an angle that kicked off Raw on June 18. There was an in-ring segment where Raw General Manager Kurt Angle introduced Bliss, who the night before at WWE Money in the Bank, caused Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship Match against Nia Jax to end in disqualification. “The Goddess” then cashed in her newly won Money in the Bank contract on “The Irresistible Force” to claim the title for the third time.
Alexa’s coronation ceremony brought out Rousey, who angrily stormed the ring. Rousey’s aggression ultimately got the better of her after the Raw Women’s Champion gloated over stealing Rousey’s spotlight and exploiting her unfamiliarity with WWE rules.
“Overhyped rookie” was the insult that finally drove Ronda to throw hands against anything that moved; not only did Bliss suffer a powerbomb through a table, Rousey also dropped Angle with a judo throw and belted him with the briefcase after the Raw General Manager tried to keep the peace.
According to WWE.com, Rousey is barred from Monday Night Raw until Wednesday, July 18 — three days after WWE Extreme Rules. Therefore, she would be eligible to appear on Raw again on Monday, July 23. Rousey, however, is currently not advertised for the show, which takes place in Cincinnati, Ohio at U.S. Bank Arena.
Despite her suspension from Monday Night Raw, Rousey is still scheduled to wrestle at three house shows she is advertised for this weekend: Friday, July 6 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Saturday, July 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and Sunday, July 8 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
At Madison Square Garden, she will face Jax with Bliss serving as the Special Guest Referee. In Bridgeport, she will team with Jax against Bliss and Mickie James. It’s not clear who she will face in Philadelphia.
Rousey last wrestled on June 24 in Anaheim, California. WWE explained on social media that Rousey was “fulfilling her contractual obligations” and therefore able to appear.
