– What happened to William Regal?
It has been reported in recent weeks that the General Manager of NXT hasn’t been around at shows since March due to an undisclosed health issue. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said that Regal was expected to be on hand for last night’s NXT television tapings at Full Sail Live in Winter Park, Florida. However, according to a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider this morning, he did not appear.
Johnson was told that a decision was made on Wednesday by WWE officials not to fly him into Orlando, Florida for the tapings. Regal has been dealing with a medical condition dating back to a few weeks before WrestleMania 34 and had been staying at his home in Atlanta, Georgia most of the time.
Despite his absence, WWE continued to portray Regal as if he’s making decisions on NXT. NXT Superstars would be shown waiting to see him in front of his office and entering like he’s there and talking about decisions he made.
Regal turned 50 years old on May 10. Triple H and the NXT crew sang happy birthday to Regal at that day’s NXT television tapings at Full Sail University.
