It turns out one of Twitter’s most controversial far-right accounts — a woman who regularly spews anti-Muslim propaganda — belongs to the wife of a former WWE executive.
According to a report by Luke O’Brien of HuffPost, the @AmyMek account — which has amassed 226,000 followers — belongs to a woman by the name of Amy Jane Mekelburg. Mekelburg is married to Salvatore Siino, WWE’s former Senior Vice President, Global Content Distribution & Business Development.
Siino became a “former” executive after O’Brien started asking WWE questions.
According to O’Brien, Siino landed the job in early 2017 after his startup went out of business. In his position, WWE says Siino would’ve been negotiating television deals in the United Arab Emirates. Virtually the entire population is Muslim.
In February 2017, WWE issued a press release on the hiring of Siino.
WWE reportedly knew about the @AmyMek account, according to a former family friend who spoke with HuffPost, and told Siino to keep his connection to his wife quiet.
When O’Brien first questioned WWE about the Twitter account, a corporate spokesperson offered a cryptic response.
“This is the first time we’re hearing about Amy Mekelburg,” said a corporate spokesperson on May 24, requesting not to be identified by name.
As the story approached publication, O’Brien reached out to WWE a second time to see if anyone was aware of @AmyMek before Siino was hired.
“No,” said the WWE spokesperson last Friday. “Now that it has come to our attention, Sal Siino is no longer an employee.”
On Twitter, Mekelburg is blaming O’Brien for the firing.
“O’Brien went so far as to contact my husband’s employer and had him fired because of MY OPINIONS and my fight for Jews to exist,” she wrote.
O’Brien has been viciously harassing me, my husband and my loved ones for having an opinion different than his, and supporting @realdonaldtrump.

It’s worth noting that the grainy photo of a blonde woman Mekelburg uses for her account is actually her, but several years old. And her Twitter handle differs little from her actual name. Despite that, she managed to keep almost all of her personal information off the internet, so many people assumed it was a person posing as a blonde woman online.
Mekelburg is a 45-year-old resident of Fishkill, New York who grew up in a Jewish family in East Brunswick, New Jersey, a fairly affluent community not far south of New York City. The HuffPost reveals more of Mekelburg’s personal information, which you can read here.
