A potential appearance by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson this Sunday at WrestleMania 34 has John Cena upset.
WWE officials badly want Johnson to appear at WrestleMania 34, but Warner Bros. Pictures have complete control over Johnson’s media schedule. If WWE wants Johnson to appear at WrestleMania 34, then they will have to promote Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Rampage,” which stars The Rock and hits theaters the following Friday.
If The Rock does appear at WrestleMania, he will have to miss media appearances in Europe this weekend.
With that being said, talks of WWE negotiating for The Rock’s appearance at WrestleMania 34 with those terms and conditions has left Cena upset.
Cena is upset that WWE hasn’t promoted his latest movie, “Blockers,” at all (which comes out this Friday). A quick scan of WWE.com shows that it’s only mentioned in passing in some recent articles on Cena’s other endeavors.
WWE not promoting “Blockers” isn’t exactly surprising since it’s Rated R “for crude and sexual content, and language throughout, drug content, teen partying, and some graphic nudity.” The premise of the film is three parents going on an investigation after their daughters vowed that they would lose their virginity at a teen party.
To try to keep Cena happy, WWE heavily promoted Cena’s hosting role at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
Cena is very disappointed by the fact that WWE didn’t promote his movie, but are willing to promote The Rock’s movie just to have a single appearance from “The People’s Champion.”
It was reported last week that Vince McMahon canceled a major WrestleMania segment since he couldn’t get Johnson to commit to the show. It’s still possible that Johnson appears at the show, and perhaps even the segment takes place, but McMahon is going forward with the idea that it’s not happening.
