Mickie James, who has been romantically linked to John Cena and former WWE Superstar Kenny Dykstra, refused to to talk about her personal life during a recent interview.
During her appearance on the PWTorch Livecast on Wednesday, host Pat McNeil asked James this question (taken from a listener in the show’s chat room): “Who is more of a gentleman; John Cena or Kenny Dykstra? I don’t know how you would know that.”
James half-heartedly chuckled before giving a long awkward pause without a response. When McNeil tried to change the subject to Total Divas, she said, “I just don’t like to talk about my personal life. Those are those little snide comments that people think are clever . . . you’re not funny.”
Dykstra, who now refers to himself as Kenn Doane, made a number of claims online in 2012 alleging that James had an affair with Cena while the two were engaged. On Twitter, Doane said he discovered James had been cheating on him with Cena when he noticed her searching rumors online about herself being unfaithful.
“She was googling mickie james and john cena dating. I asked why, she broke down crying. Then I heard more from others. She was checking to see if it was on the net yet,” Doane recalled. “I feel bad for magnus. Nice guy dating a …. well u know.”
Cena’s relationship with James resulted in Doane being transferred from the Raw brand — where Cena and James were working — to SmackDown. The once-promising wrestler languished throughout his duration on the blue brand before being released from his WWE contract on November 2008. Doane attributed James’ success to her relationship with Cena and claimed that she was switched from Raw to SmackDown in November 2009 because she was unable to cope with Cena breaking up with her. This forced organization officials to separate Cena and James from each other at work. The move led to her being saddled with the unflattering ‘Piggy James’ moniker before being released from her contract in April 2010.
“[John Cena] was messing with [Mickie James] so I got moved to Smackdown so they could further mess. I jobbed, got fired. When [Mickie James] got crazy because he wouldn’t date her, she then got fired. Weird biz huh? She got title, on TV show while with him. Serves her well though,” Doane said on Twitter. “She wanted to date him, he said no, she flipped out backstage which led to her demise.”
Doane echoed in another response, “When they were together she got the title, TV roles. When he dumped her she became Piggy James, then fired.”
Doane also claimed that Cena and James didn’t actually date; but rather, ‘were hooking up.’ He also alleged that Cena lied to Elizabeth Huberdeau (Cena’s then-fiancée, who became his wife in July 2009) about his relationship with James: “He denied it all to [her].”
He also felt Cena resented him for disclosing his relationship with James to management.
“I made mention of him sleeping with MJ and he probably thought I wouldn’t say anything. But I did and he is mad. I guess,” Doane said.
A WWE fan asked Doane on Twitter what right he had to air his former co-workers’ dirty laundry. He responded, “What they do is their biz, but it’s also mine when it effects my career and life.”
Doane proclaimed several times on Twitter to being honest with all of his statements since he had no reason to lie. He had settled with a career outside of wrestling and didn’t care whether his remarks would result in him being blackballed by WWE.
“If I spoke out it would have ruined my chance of returning to WWE,” he said. “Now I’m set with what I’m doing and don’t care if I get banned.”
He added, “I’m ruining any chance of a WWE return by doing this I’m sure. But it doesn’t matter to me.”
Despite his airing of Cena’s dirty laundry, Doane said then he liked him.
“I have no heat towards him. He has heat towards me. I really don’t care either way. I’m just being honest,” Doane tweeted. “Truthfully I do like john, but if u ask me a question im gonna answer it truthfully. Not my fault he did dumb shit. #youcanthandlethetruth!”
