John Cena Squashes WWE’s Plan For Nikki Bella To Lose The Divas Championship

The debuts of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks on WWE’s main roster have transformed the way women’s wrestling is perceived seemingly overnight.

At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn on Saturday, the three ladies, along with new NXT Women’s Champion Bayley, embraced in the center of the ring, signifying the end of the “Four Horsewomen” era for the brand.

According to an exclusive report by Wrestlezone.com, the beginning of the Divas Revolution, with three teams of three being separated to wage war on each other, wasn’t the original plan for the uprising of women’s wrestling in the company.

Charlotte was reportedly set to capture the Divas Championship from Nikki Bella right out of the gate. Ric Flair’s daughter, along with Lynch and Banks, would then dominate the scene for the foreseeable future.

United States Champion John Cena, who is also the boyfriend of Nikki, went to Vince McMahon on her behalf to squash that plan. This has led WWE to take a conservative booking approach by having Divas from the new and old regime trading victories, keeping the balance in the division.
