— SummerSlam came and went without an appearance by Roman Reigns, who captured the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at last year’s show. His mystery attack storyline did, however, continue on the SummerSlam Kickoff.
On last week’s episode of SmackDown LIVE, Murphy implicated Rowan in the recent attacks on Reigns, and the 6-foot-8 monster viciously proved that Murphy made a huge mistake. Rowan screamed, “You keep my name out of your mouth,” as he brutally attacked Murphy during the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion’s match against Apollo Crews.
According to insider Brad Shepard, WWE canceled a “big” segment involving Reigns, Rowan and Daniel Bryan that had been planned for the pay-per-view.
So they wrote out the big segment planned with Roman/Rowan/Bryan and ended the show with boring babyface Seth Rollins beating Brock Lesnar again. It looks like we’re in for more boring Seth and Becky on Raw – Yikes! #WWE #SummerSlam

Shepard notes that WWE was making changing to SummerSlam while the show was taking place.
I don’t write the show. The show was being written during the show and things sometimes change. If you don’t understand that about WWE by now then you are a lost cause. https://t.co/Oy1X88VFBr
