It looks like Dasha Fuentes is gone from WWE.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reported yesterday that WWE recently released the 30-year-old backstage interviewer from her contract. This was not a case of Fuentes requesting her release. According to a report today by PWInsider, company officials made the decision to let her go last Thursday.
The reason for her release is unclear. The timing, however, is quite unusual since she traveled to New York City for WWE’s WrestleMania 35 festivities. We can’t recall WWE terminating a talent’s contract during WrestleMania week.
Furthermore, WWE hasn’t issued a statement on her release, which the company almost always does when cutting talent from the main roster.
It seemed apparent that she was gone from WWE after we noted that her profile page on WWE.com got removed. If you visit the URL of where her page was located, there is a message stating, “You are not authorized to access this page.”
Fuentes posted this quote on her Instagram Story on Monday indicating a
Fuentes also shared a video on Tuesday from Orlando International Airport where she says “it’s been an interesting couple of days” and that she’s going on vacation.
Fuentes’ departure from WWE is a surprise since she regularly appeared on Raw and as recently as last week.
It would appear that WWE already found Fuentes’ replacement as Sarah Schreiber handled backstage interviews with Charly Caruso on Monday.
With a background in swimming, diving, and gymnastics, Fuentes began training to wrestle at the WWE Performance Center in 2014. A knee injury sidelined her that summer, but she resumed training and made her wrestling debut in April 2015. She only wrestled one match, teaming with Becky Lynch and Dana Brooke in a losing effort to Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Devin Taylor. Fuentes, however, wasn’t cut out for wrestling and she began appearing as a backstage interviewer and ring announcer for NXT a few months later.
WWE’s brand split paved the way for Fuentes to join the main roster in the summer of 2016 as a backstage interviewer for SmackDown LIVE. She remained on the show until November 2018, at which point she was transferred to Raw in the same role.
