Ronda Rousey On Rumors She May Leave WWE To Start A Family: “It’s My Vagina, My Life”

Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey has addressed rumors that she may leave WWE following WrestleMania 35 in April to start a family.

In an interview with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Rousey took exception to reporters speculating on her desire to have children.

“I honestly don’t know why [anyone] feels like [they’re] an authority to speak on the plans for my uterus,” she says. “If I responded every single time the world speculated what I was doing with my womb I would not have a free moment in the day,” Rousey said.

“I really don’t feel like I should have to respond to that kind of thing. It’s my vagina, my life, keep the speculations to yourself. Leave me and my reproductive organs alone.”

On Thursday, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Rousey is expected to have her final match with WWE at WrestleMania 35.

Meltzer added that while those within WWE are working under the idea that Rousey is leaving after WrestleMania, it’s quite possible that WWE will convince her to stay with a big contract or potentially have her work a part-time schedule like The Undertaker or John Cena.

In response to Meltzer’s report, TMZ Sports reported Thursday that Rousey is not leaving WWE after WrestleMania 35, but she could take a break.

Per TMZ, Rousey is “super happy” in WWE and not ready to leave the company yet. A WWE spokesperson also told TMZ that Rousey is under contract until April 10, 2021.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Rousey may take a “planned break” to start a family, but it doesn’t mean she won’t return to wrestling for WWE in the future.

In March, Rousey told Yahoo! Sports that she and husband Travis Browne wanted to start having children “soon.”

“We’re ready to start having kids soon and I was thinking about what I’ve left unfinished in my life because I want to entirely focus on having kids when that time comes,” Rousey said.

“I took a long look at my life and thought that if I don’t try and take a shot with the WWE, I would regret it for the rest of my life. I want to be an example to my kids about pursuing your dreams and being able to do anything. I guess this is my way of nesting and getting ready for children. I’m trying to prove to my unborn babies that they can accomplish any dream that they want to go after.”
