WWE’s Social Media Department Told Not To Mention Hulk Hogan?

In his first appearance at a WWE show since 2015, Hulk Hogan kicked off WWE Crown Jewel on November 2 at King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The WWE Hall of Famer opened the show wearing his usual red and yellow garb, along with a yellow feather boa, a red bandana, and a sleeveless Hulkamania shirt. As Hogan made his way to the ring, WWE’s announce team hyped Hogan as having held the WWE Championship for four years and Renee Young said that Hogan’s “still got it.”

As Hogan entered the ring as the Crown Jewel’s official host, the crowd roared and chanted, “Hogan! Hogan! Hogan!” Hogan was jubilant and replied, “It feels so good to be out here in front of the whole WWE Universe.” Hogan continued, “The Power of Hulkamania and the power of my Hulkamaniacs are stronger than ever right here at the Crown Jewel.” Hogan added, “It’s great to see you guys. It’s awesome to be back here in the WWE. It’s unbelievable to be your host tonight.”

Hogan then announced the start of the show before making his exit for the opening match of the World Cup: Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton.

The appearance was at the request of the Saudi government so WWE delivered Hogan but there was no hype surrounding his return. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there was a video announcement planned for the Raw go-home show but the decision was made not to air it.

Bryan Alvarez claimed Friday on Wrestling Observer Live that WWE’s social media department was told not to mention his name, at least for now.

“When’s the last time you saw Hulk Hogan’s name on WWE.com? When’s the last time you saw Hulk Hogan’s name on WWE’s social media. He’s vanished off the face of the Earth,” Alvarez said.

“The social media department has been told ‘zero Hulk Hogan.’ Not saying that he’s never gonna be back again. I think that they’re just biding their time and he’s going to do his big return again, this time on a show here in the United States. Boy, did he drop off the face of the Earth after that Crown Jewel show.”

This is untrue. WWE posted this last Saturday on Instagram.

Also on Saturday, WWE posted this video counting down his 10 greatest moments.

Alvarez admitted to being wrong after WWE contacted him to make note of the Hogan content.
